I’m Okay

No one needs to freak out like Samantha did when I told her I had a nose bleed. She start sobbing because she didn’t want me to die and wouldn’t believe I would be okay. Now, my sheets on the other hand haven’t done so well. I suppose it’s not big loss because they kept shrinking every time I put them in the wash anyway, so a new set would be nice after all.

I also made it home alive, if not a little delayed. I’m not sure who it was who decided that a major airport should be built in Chicago but I think this person was a moron. The weather is never, ever good for flights. I worried about the weather in Wausau being bad for my flight with what should be worse weather but all my delays were due to Chicago’s weather. At least I experienced a nice rainbow while waiting for my last plane – I sent the picture to Twitpic but, apparently, it didn’t work. Boo.

I definitely feel like a bad mommy. I could tell my kitties were very upset that I had been gone so long so I do not plan to do that to them again, despite the fact that Samantha wants me to come home in May, for my birthday. I’m not sure if ‘home’ is the right word. For the past couple years, I’ve felt like home was wherever Ryan is so I definitely feel displaced for the time being. Anyway, the kitties are better. I cannot believe how big Goliath has grown; Phantom almost seems small! As bad as I feel, they have developed some bad habits while I was gone so I shall need to retrain them.

Speaking of Samantha, she was exhausting as always. Didn’t like me to leave or have friends come over. We played a ton of Maplestory and she spent pretty much her entire Spring break with me. It was fun and frustrating at the same time. And loud. Always loud.

So it’s pretty quiet around here. I think we’re car shopping and I found a Maxima for a really good price on Craigslist. The seller has since dropped the price and it would be a steal but I think we’re going to get a Carfax report first, just to be safe because it almost sounds “too good to be true.”

Now that I’m home, I can get back to watching Netflix on the Xbox (it was here when I returned! Yay!) as well as writing reviews and finally finishing up the rest of the content on Her Realm. I know you’ve been waiting super patiently. I, on the other hand, have not so I think I shall begin on that right away.

Phantom Antics

Ugh! Yesterday Phantom was running around with something stuck to the back of his leg. He would periodically stop to lick at it, but it wasn’t coming off. I grabbed him but only held onto him long enough to understand that he did not want me messing with it. It seems to be gone today, whatever it was.

Good Lord

I look over toward the bedroom door and Phantom has climbed up the door frame 3-4 feet and is just hanging there. Unfortunately, I couldn’t grab my camera fast enough.

Little brother

don’t you do what your big brother does (you know, like the Elvis song ;))

One issue of our kitty dynamic is that Goliath seems to really admire his “older brother” and likes to imitate him. Phantom sits on the edge of the tub when I shower? So does Goliath. Phantom runs into the pantry when I open the door (we keep the food at the bottom), so does Goliath. Phantom sits on the printer, Goliath must follow. I certainly hope Goliath doesn’t pick up Phantom’s really bad habit, jumping on the fridge (from the counter).

Of course, wherever Phantom is, Goliath likes to be by him. Licking, cuddling, playing. I think Phantom gets a bit annoyed when he is trying to relax when someone is biting his tail. It’s cute, though. Sometimes they really act like older brother and younger brother.

A Tale of Two Kitties

Phantom and Goliath

Well, Puck had a name change to Goliath because I just wasn’t sure Puck fit. I am not totally feeling Goliath yet, either so I just call him Little One. I wasn’t so sure about him at first, mostly because it was a quick decision and Ryan picked him out – funny that the non-cat person picked out both of our cats. But Goliath has grown on me.

I think first he liked Phantom more and Phantom wasn’t really sure. They both were very similar when we got them, very courageous and fearless. They did/do a lot of silly things which made them adorable and they both had a lot of personality.

We took Goliath home right away and they’re an adorable pair. He’s only about 3 months old which is the same age we got Phantom and, although he’s only a few months older, he seems so big in comparison! So Phantom has become my big boy, even though he’s still just a kitten himself.

They fought a bit the first night and now it’s more playful and settled down. Phantom certainly seems to have let up on more of his playful characteristics and I hope it’s only temporary. He was definitely a little indifferent toward us but now seems to be coming back around to his old self.

We had really been considering a seocnd cat so we would have one to balance out Phantom. We hoped a playmate would make him stay out of trouble (the tree, trash, counter tops, so on and so forth) a well as give him someone else to pick on. He’s only bitten me once since we got Goliath and that was because I intervened when they were fighting.

On the other hand, having another kitten means going through all the same things we did with Phantom. The goods new is that Goliath seems to listen a bit more and not be as naturally wild so I don’t think we will have a hard of time with it. Of course, he does like to walk over the laptop quite a bit, much to Ryan’s dismay. d=
