Oh the horror!

feeling: Headachey and extremely tired

So, after about an hour of sleep I’m all refreshed and ready to work tonight – not. I went to bed around noon but just couldn’t manage to fall asleep, probably because I slept so much and so late this morning.

Anywhoo, I was waiting for Mom to call when she was done with work so Wendy and I could go over there and iron on some transfers to make Wendy a Dir en Grey tank top for her concert on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t going right from the get-go. First, Wendy had to run home because she realized she forgot the shirt. LOL. Then I realized I had to invert the images (I lost the main instruction sheet and couldn’t remember since it’d been so long and the only one I had said you didn’t need to invert it)! Finally, we get to ironing after running home twice, having Floppy jump on the ironing board with the hot iron, and it doesn’t work.

It wouldn’t peel off. The paper hardened and stuff to the shirt. So we figure we’ll iron the back just to see if that would work and it turns out the image wasn’t inverted even though we’d run home to invert it? It didn’t work anyway so we attempted to peel the hardened paper from the tank top but that failed, too.

So now I’m home with a headache and no sleep and I have the distinct pleasure, no, honour of going in to work. Not only do I get to work with Diane (aka the slowest cashier on the face of the planet) and Kim (aka read my “Dear X” post) but the new overnight CSM, Katie, starts. After working there for a full 3 weeks she earns promotion – how the hell?! Anyway, I’ll miss Deb once she goes back to grocery but hopefully I’ll be out of there soon – I applied for 10 or so places online a few days ago.

Still Alive

hearing: Symphony X – Masquerade
feeling: cold?

About 2 blocks from home, Ashley was turning the corner and the car skidded up to the curb, stopping just a few feet from a tree. We weren’t going all that fast but the tree was on my side of the car. Before leaving work, everyone was saying how to drive safely because it’s freezing rain because it’s right at freezing point point but Ashley must have been paying too much attention to our conversation.

Anyway, I had to pleasure of exiting the car (and slipping on my way) to push it out of the snowbank, which really wasn’t a big deal but my right leg was the one I had behind me for leverage and it slipped around 3 feet into snow. -chuckles*

Then, I slipped on the road because it was covered with ice, as I was coming back to the car. I opened the door and slipped once more, falling into the car. Luckily Ashley was so kind as to laugh at me. -g*

Anyway, we’re okay as is the car although I would’ve laughed had she totaled it as she’s put a lot of money into repairing it lately and she just replaced the battery last night.

It’s Christimas Time in the City

A week already since the last post?
I’ve been busy; hell, everyone’s been busy. If they weren’t, work wouldn’t be so damned busy.
Unfortunately I still have a job but I guess it’s good with all the money I’ve been spending on Christmas gifts. I just need to buy the ones for Mom and Tim but I know what I want to buy them and I know where I’ll buy Tim’s but I’m not sure about mom.

I still have to wrap and label everything I bought as well as put some extra ornaments on the tree. I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned the tree but it’s a fake tree which belongs to my ex roommate’s step-father and is about 10 years old. Needless to say, it wasn’t very pretty when we first put up the lights and then I had trouble with those.

We got them all up and we we plugged them in, part of a strand wasn’t working. After some fiddling, I found a loose bulb on the floor and put it in its spot, but it still didn’t work so I bought some replacement bulbs and another strand of lights thinking that, if worse came to worse, I’d just change them. At one point, I’d thought the unlit section had actually moved from the middle of the strand to another place, but I’m not sure now. I thought that the place where the bulbs didn’t work was in the middle of the strand so that confused me even more but, as it turns out, it was at the end of the first strand.

Well, I did replace a couple dead bulbs and that helped, but the lights still didn’t work. As I’m playing with them, I realize another bulb is completely missing so I think that I’ll use one of the spares from the new set, even though I didn’t want to. It doesn’t matter as those don’t even fit.

To make a long story short, I found the last bulb in the box, put it in and the lights worked. I returned the extra bulbs and lights to Wal-mart but it wasn’t to the one in Wausau and they ripped me off.

Anyway, I bought some garland and hung the bulbs which Grandma gave to me along with the very few decorations I have and the tree looks much better. I’ll take a picture of it (and probably all the presents I bought for my sister) once I put up the rest of the new decorations I bought, which will be this morning.

I also need to clean up the living room, which is so full of boxes it looks like I’m moving again, send out my Christmas cards, and put together my bookcase. Luckily, I have off Sunday and Monday. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some sleep, too, and play Maplestory (I’m now level 23).

PS, I’ve edited the song of the week.

Odds ‘n’ Ends

hearing: A Trojan commercial
feeling: Sore & Tired
wanting: My kitty

Hasn’t been much to blog about lately. Work is work and there’s good days and bad days. I’m glad to have the Cow gone, but CSM Kim needs to be more assertive and take the initiative. The cashiers shouldn’t be the ones telling her what to do and she should make she she is “Taking care” of us before herself, as our supervisor and that includes not only breaks but keeping up busy and working as well.

I’d been having a terribly hard time to find a costume I liked. I don’t want to be just some Gothic/Dark/Evil/Princess/Renaissance/Thing; I’d rather be something which people can name. I found several online but buying clothes online can be risky because you can’t try it on and don’t know if it will fit and costumes are designed to fit a range or sizes but something which claims to be a small or a size 4-6, will generally run a little larger or smaller because of the range of sizes. So, with it being this close to Halloween I didn’t want to have to send a costume back and not recieve it in time (or only be able to get a refund because they don’t have anymore) or not be able to do a refund/exchange at all.

I found this costume I liked at work but they didn’t have my size and every place online was at least $20 more expensive. Plus, it’s made for tall people. I did find a couple other costumes I liked online but I didn’t like any of them that much and I really wanted to find something here.

Finally, Ashley and I went to Factory Card Outlet since I was having no luck anyplace else and she still needed a costume. Their costumes were okay, better than some places and the prices were decent but I didn’t see anything I liked and in my size. She bought this costume and then I had to practically beg her to go to Kmart, the only other store which might have something that we hadn’t been to.

So we stop at K-mart and head to the costumes section. They had several of each costume but there weren’t all that many and most of them were fairly trypical. However, after searhcing the racks for a bit I found this one and decided to get it. I’d seen it online and mostly I like how it looks spooky and the purplish glow around the wig. As I’m leaving the cashier tells me how all costumes will be 40% off and if I come back before today (eeps), they’ll refund me the difference. Awesome!

So we return home and try on the costumes and, to my surprise, it fits! Not only does it fit, but my boobs look great in it and I can wear my corset (well, one of them) over the dress but under the cloak and look even better. So, I have a costume and I like it, but I’ll have to buy a better wig which is still cheaper than some of the costumes out there.

Today, I was planning to take a walk up to the mall. to buy the wig and have my necklage fixed, when it opened and then up to Mom’s so I could see Floppy because I missed me kitty something awful. )= Instead, I went there after work with Tim because he said Mom had to work so I figured he could drive me back when he dropped Mom off from work.

Samantha was so cute and sleepy looking as she watched Sesame Street on TV. The animals surrounded me and, eventually, Pesky curled up on my arm/chest and I rested my head on her. Floppy plopped his fat ass down on the coffeee table and purred as I petted him and Tim said he weights 53 pounds now. O_O. Holy big kitty. He needs to go on a diet.

Penny showed up to take Mom to work and drop Samantha off at her Grandma’s and as soon as she walked in the door Samantha was telling her about Cole. Awwww. Thye had to elave shortly so Mom and Tim left it up to Samantha to decide who she wanted to ride with and eventualyl she picked Mom and Penny but she wouldn’t get dressed so they put her bunny slippers on her but then she started whining about how she wanted to “stay with Cole.” I love that kid.

Eventually, I got ready to leave with Tim because he needed to stop at the store and I walked Samantha out to the car but she started to cry because I had to leave her and wouldn’t get in the car when she said “Come on Cole.” I hate it when she cries but, hopefully, I’ll see her later this afternoon and she can help us decorate.

I’ll have to finish decorating the inside of the house tonight with Ashe and we should probably go grocery shopping and buy the food for the party. Speaking of the party, I saw both Mel and Tristan last night and invited them but I still have two invites sitting on my deck because I don’t have addresses to which mail them aaand there’s less than a week until the party. Damn. Time flies quickly.

Speaking of time flying – it’s time for me to fly.

Deb made a funny!

Today is my cousin’s birthday and I found out she was having a party last night so I’m planning to go over there later and hopefully it will be fun. My aunt said she wanted a stuffed lamb so Fernie and I looked for one on lunch but couldn’t find one. However, later in the night, Fernie saw a little stuffed sheep which is a shopping card “hugger.” It’s a mini stuffed animal with a kind of necklace for a shopping card but I’m not sure it’s a sheep. This is how the conversation progressed:

Me to everyone else: Hey, is this a lamb?
Them: Let me see, etc.
Deb, holding it: It’s not a lamb
Ashley: It’s a lamb
Deb: No, it’s a sheep
Everyone else: laughter
Me: Deb, you know that a lamb is a baby sheep, right?
Deb, adamantly: No, it’s not!
Diane, holding it: It’s not a lamb, it’s a sheep because this is full grown and sheep don’t have pink (meaning the feet).
Me: And sheep DO?!

Heh.
