While sex can bring intimacy to and improve a healthy relationship, sex and love do now always go hand in hand; they can separate. Although some frown upon it, "no strings attached" sex can be quite enjoyable for all parties involved, if you are smart about this. Being smart about "no strings attached" sex means:
- Knowing your partner's sexual history
- Having yourself and your parnet tested for STI's
- Using contraception
- Setting any ground rules/limits
- Discussing possible consequences
Because some people prefer this type of sex over being in a relationship, they have one or more partners from whom they seek sex but are not emotionally attached. This type of relationship is called a "friends with benefits" relationship.
