Copycat

In true little brother fashion, Goliath takes after his big brother. Phantom has always slept in certain spots, usually right up against the wall. Goliath now does, too. Phantom started sleeping on top of the TV a few weeks ago; now Goliath tries to join.. but usually falls off because Phantom is the small, graceful one and Goliath is just big and awkward. Phantom used to live on top of the fridge a while back, until Goliath took it over. I think it’s cute but I’m pretty sure Lil P isn’t quite so thrilled. He always has to find new spots but sometimes I still find them curled up together and get a picture like this one:

Oh, hi

Still here? Me, too. Just counting down the days until I can see my husband. I haven’t mentioned much because, in some ways, the coming of the end almost came upon me suddenly. Not that I want to put it off. I’m so over this deployment crap.

And the being alone crap but I had a bit of a reprieve when Jenn and I (and Matthew!) had lunch at TFI Fridays on Sunday. We also stopped at Petsmart, oohed and aahed over the kitties and I finally got something to keep the kitty food in. Phantom has yet to figure out how to chew through/open the container. ;)

Also, Phantom how has his own Twitter account. >_>

It’s a cat.. burglar

So I went to get the mail a bit before 11 and as I’m unlocking the door to come back inside, I hear something inside the bedroom. It’s really loud. Loud enough that I actually pause to think “Did I leave the door unlocked? Am I being burgled?” So I open the door and nothing. No one. I turn on the bedroom light to see Goliath standing on one nightstand; the lamp and alarm clock are knocked over on the other and I assume Phantom was someplace under the bed. I don’t know what they were doing but as they say.. the cats will play. ;)

Surprise!

Not the good kind like “I found $20 in my winter coat pocket” but the “Oh, shit! The condom broke type.”

Despite the fact that we were told. Despite the fact that we should not have taken him home otherwise. Despite the fact that the adoption center was billed for it..

Phantom is not fixed.

In hindsight, this explains everything (the aggression and yowling).  It also means there will be an end to the sleepless nights. However,  I now get to deal with the spraying because he’s gone into heat so the damage is already done. Luckily, it seems the adoption center will take care of it Tuesday/Wednesday but this is totally crappy in the meantime. I hate locking him in the bathroom at night but what else can I do?

I look forward to having my sweet, quiet, non-abuse kitty baby back.
