Evolved Symphony Serenade
The Symphony Serenade, available in pretty a pretty blue, is a waterproof, traditional vibrator with a shape meant to be felt but which isn’t particularly off-putting. With just over 6″ insertable The smooth tapered head is the smallest point of this insertable with 3 increasing-in-size bulges down the shaft. Each bulge boasts 3 smaller ridges (which also increase in side) and, between the bulges, there is about 1/2″ of smooth material. I could easily feel it, and I am not always very sensitive to textures/shapes. However, the types of ridges and bulges are not my cup of tea, it would seem.
Aside from shape, the Serenade is definitely meant to stimulate internally. The tapered head houses a bullet and vibrations are definitely best felt here. The middle of the shaft is very flexible as there are no hard components inside. Although it’s not intended for it, you might be able to get some G-spot stimulation because of its flexibility (the Serenade can bend 20 – 30 degrees). On the other hand, if you need firm stimulation, this toy may not do the trick. It’s also difficult to get pinpoint accuracy so this vibe works as a general insertable.
I did try to see if this toy could be used as a dual stimulator by taking advantage of the flexibility but it doesn’t bend that much. I also found it too flexible to use it as an effective clit stimulator but I need a lot of pressure. Others, who rely more on vibrations, may find this to be a good clit vibe as well.
Serenade is powered by 2AA batteries which are inserted into an “EZ load” style battery pack at the base. I found Serenade’s vibrations to be deep but lacking in strength and hard to feel at the base (especially on the lowest setting). This toy would be best for someone who is more sensitive to vibrations than I tend to be (especially when it comes to insertion). Nonetheless, it’s extremely easy to use and operates with a single push button on the bottom of the base. Just be careful not to accidentally press this button at the wrong time.
Like other Evolved toys I’ve tried, this one runs at a dull hum on low but becomes disproportionately loud on the other two settings, as though the TPR is amplifying the noise. Position of the toy seems to have an effect as well: bending or inserting the toy muffles disproportionate sound.
Because the TPR is slightly sticky and there are such prominent ridges, I would advise using lube with this toy (you can go either water or silicone based). Also, it has a tendency to pick up lint so make sure to cover it or put it away as soon as possible.
I have tried a handful of Evolved toys, now, and I have had some of the same feelings about them all. One thing that strikes me repeatedly (not violently, that is) is how Evolved’s products always seem to find a balance between quality and affordability. No, they’re not made of pure silicone or airplane grade aluminum but you don’t have to pay the price that comes with those materials, either. I find this to be true with the Serenade, a vibrator in the Symphony line of vibes (all of which have a musically themed name). The soft TPR is more hygienic than jelly because it’s less porous and Phthalates free and all of Evolved’s toys seem to be soundly built but there is a sacrifice: you don’t get a really powerful motor or really quality material.
Furthermore, the Serenade failed to blow my mind, much the same as other Evolved toys. The flexibility, shape and sticky TPR made is awkward for hard and fast thrusting (or clit play) but it’s lack of power makes it boring to just leave inserted. While it’s decently made and will likely do the trick for others, I’m extremely picky and need my sex toys to be much more impressive to leave a mark.
