The internet is not just a great tool for buyers; sellers will find a place to peddle their services and wares online as well. As mentioned, the internet allows one to set up shop and advertise that shop to vastly larger numbers than simply a brick and mortar institution may allow. Instead of needing to rely on local customers, anyone who has access to a shipping service can sell their products internationally.
Sellers can also skip the entire process of needing a physical residence for their stores by creating websites or, even easier, by using a selling service to host their stores. Some sites will go even further by manufacturing one's products or shipping to customers so that one can make the most profit with the least effort.
With millions of stores (and even more products), it's easy to find the perfect product at a competitive rate and millions of shoppers mean millions more dollars in revenue when it comes to sellers who take advantage of internet commerce.
Sellers can promote and sell their goods via a variety of methods including auction sites, hosted shops, self publishing, word of mouth and business website. There are also tools which help both buyers and sellers complete transactions.
Although most transactions online are done via credit/debit card a seller may not be able or may notchoose to accept this form of payment and may rely on physical payment. It's advisable to accept only money orders and cashiers checks which can be tracked and insured. A seller should never accept cash as it cannot be tracked.
