So you don't know what you want to do? Then we'll go through some of the things the internet can do and from there I'm sure you'll have some ideas. Like the television, you can surf the internet for something that interests you. One of the easiest ways to do this is by utilizing a search engine.
One of the most powerful and foremost capabilities of the internet is the search engine. A search engine is website or program which allows you to search the content of the internet, all from one place! The leading internet search engine is Google. Google is probably a name you've heard although you may not be familiar with it. Originally just a search engine, the company now owns many websites, products and webservices.
There are a few other search engines you may have used or may wish to use.
If you perform a Google search, like most search engines, you have the options to search the "Web," to search "Images," and to search "News." Many search engines now allow for multimedia searches such as "Audio" or "Video." Most search engines also have search categories which are unique to them. Google allows you to search Google groups, maps, books and shop with "Froogle." Ask.com has Weather, Blog/Feed, and "Ask For Kids" search options, among others.
You will probalby find yourself relying on mostly one search engines for your searches. I used Google almost invariably. Most searches on different search engines will be similiar enough that it is not worth the effort to search in more than one place. However, if you want your search to span several search engines, there are search engines like DogPile which will search multiple big-name search engines.
So now that you know what a search engine is and does, feel free to choose one and search. You can search anything from your favourite sports team, to a recipe for soup, to cheats for video games and more. Chances are, once you find something to search for that interests you, new search ideas will form in your head
I would suggest looking up your favourite hobby. On the internet you can find all sorts of information about the history, the tools, the procedures, advice, services and products to buy and communities all dedicated to thousands (if not millions!) of subjects, including your love of, well, whatever it is that you love.
If you still don't know what to search, here's a list of things:
- Your family name and history
- Your favourite actor/performer
- Your favourite band
- Your fellow high school graduates
- Stocks
- Your horroscope
