Commerce

The onset of the internet and business via the internet has changed the face of commerce – the exchange or goods and services – and the long standing tradition of customer service which has gone hand and hand with commerce. Now, one never has to leave the confines of one’s home to order a product and hard-to-find merchandise becomes much easier to find (usually, though not always). There’s less focus on company name, customer service and personal interaction when it comes to making purchases online; however, your favourite mom and pop store might have a better chance of making a name on the internet when it’s so much easier to reach a larger market. Of course, it’s not just traditional brick and mortar shops which have changed the way they do business. Many products and services available on the internet exist solely because of the internet. No one would need web design or hosting if the internet didn’t exist and we wouldn’t purchase memberships to sites and communities, either. These changes make it easier for both buyers and sellers to exchange, advertise and communicate about their goods and services.
