How to Wash Clothes
Separate clothes into three piles: darks, (colors), lights and towels/blankets/bedding.
Empty all pockets!
Wash clothing with only other clothing from the same pile.
- Towels and linens may leaves “fuzzies” on clothing
- Coloured clothing may bleed and stain light clothing.
Wash all dark clothing with Woolite Dark.
- Regular detergent may leave soap stains on dark clothing.
Wash each pile of clothing in the correct temperature.
- Dark clothing should be washed in warm water.
- Light clothing should be washed in hot water.
- Delicates should be washed in cold water.
If an item has a stain when you put it in the washer, check to see if the stain is still there BEFORE putting it into the dryer. Heat will set the stain.
- Anytime possible, pre-treat a stain before putting it into the washer.
Be sure to set the size of the load on the machine.
- A larger load, or one with many jeans will take longer to dry. Split it up to minimize time.
Be sure to read all tags on clothing. If an item requires special treatment, give it that treatment.
NEVER wash anything that says Dry-clean Only.
If something needs serious ironing, iron it.
If an item needs light ironing, hang it in the bathroom while you take a shower and most creases should come out from the humidity.
Give special treatment to delicates.
- Wash and dry on delicate cycle.
Do not leave clothes in the washer after they are done. Put them in the dryer immediately.
Test detergents and other laundry soaps on fabrics before using them. Try a small hidden area to see if it will affect the dye or fabric.
Have fun! :)
