Tell Me I’m Overreacting
August 10th, 2009 Posted 10:11 am
Saturday night, I saw Goliath has a tapeworm. At first I was like “Eww” and then I was worried about my kitty baby (and where he sits). My internet skillz produced an easy to get medicine, if not for a slightly harsh price tag and since I was going to be running some errands, I wasn’t too put off about that. Unfortunately, it’s very likely that Goliath got the tapeworm from swallowing a flea and that does have me worried. I don’t want him to have fleas or for him to give them to me or Phantom. I feel like fleas are crawling all over me, now.
I also don’t necessarily want to buy medicine if he doesn’t have anything but I guess that’s how I am about everything so this is really stressing me out. Jenn is all “Pfft, I can’t help you” about my cheapness but have you seen the prices for flea medicine? Even when they’re cheap, they’re not. I’m actually waiting for Phantom’s vet to call me back about some options, though because even if I’m cheap, I’m not cruel.
I suppose it’s better safe than sorry, right?

Oh, hi

Still here? Me, too. Just counting down the days until I can see my husband. I haven’t mentioned much because, in some ways, the coming of the end almost came upon me suddenly. Not that I want to put it off. I’m so over this deployment crap.
And the being alone crap but I had a bit of a reprieve when Jenn and I (and Matthew!) had lunch at TFI Fridays on Sunday. We also stopped at Petsmart, oohed and aahed over the kitties and I finally got something to keep the kitty food in. Phantom has yet to figure out how to chew through/open the container. ;)
Also, Phantom how has his own Twitter account. >_>
It’s a cat.. burglar
June 12th, 2009 Posted 12:35 am
So I went to get the mail a bit before 11 and as I’m unlocking the door to come back inside, I hear something inside the bedroom. It’s really loud. Loud enough that I actually pause to think “Did I leave the door unlocked? Am I being burgled?” So I open the door and nothing. No one. I turn on the bedroom light to see Goliath standing on one nightstand; the lamp and alarm clock are knocked over on the other and I assume Phantom was someplace under the bed. I don’t know what they were doing but as they say.. the cats will play. ;)
Bugs Bugs Bugs

…is a name of a book Samantha likes and she says the name in a totally cute way. It’s also the name of the problem I’ve been lately. The house is full of bugs, no doubt due to the hot weather but I wish they’re stay outside. I was at Target today and invested in some raid which Ryan’s cousin so graciously picked out because, honestly, who knew they make so much bug spray?! I hope it takes care of the ant-like bugs, the slug-like bugs, the small hornet/mosquito-like bugs (alternatively, they could be giant mosquito/hornet-like bugs LOL), the spiders (not insects but still) and the bees – especially the ants that keep going in the kitty food. Arg! I’ve seen 4 different kinds of bugs in the last 4 days.
It’s not that I don’t appreciate the little things

It’s just that everything is fucking pissing me off lately.
Yesterday the A/C stopped working. I think it took me a while to notice and by that time, night had fallen. No biggie. It wasn’t super hot so I i turned on the fan in the bedroom when I hit the hay and it was actually a really comfortable night. I call the office this morning and someone comes out around noon. Apparently, the big ol’ A/C compressor outside was out of freon so it froze over. Maintenance popped open the panel on our wall and I see a 1 inch thick – at least – chunk of ice the size of our air filter and right behind it. Everything needs to thaw so he returns in an hour, replaces the filter and fixes up the freon outside.
I know it’s not the end of the world but don’t you think that is something to keep your eye on before your tenants have to call you?!
On another, sort of good note.. Phantom will be fixed on Wednesday. It’s only a week after they originally said. I only had to call them a dozen times and leave two messages before someone called me. back. Only. Ugh
I cannot wait until he stops the meowing, the aggression, the spraying and everything else. I want to love my cat again!
Surprise!

Not the good kind like “I found $20 in my winter coat pocket” but the “Oh, shit! The condom broke type.”
Despite the fact that we were told. Despite the fact that we should not have taken him home otherwise. Despite the fact that the adoption center was billed for it..
Phantom is not fixed.
In hindsight, this explains everything (the aggression and yowling). It also means there will be an end to the sleepless nights. However, I now get to deal with the spraying because he’s gone into heat so the damage is already done. Luckily, it seems the adoption center will take care of it Tuesday/Wednesday but this is totally crappy in the meantime. I hate locking him in the bathroom at night but what else can I do?
I look forward to having my sweet, quiet, non-abuse kitty baby back.
You know what would be awesome?

If Phantom would shut the fuck up. Besides getting a muzzle of breaking his skull, what can I do to make this cat be quiet?
