Hurry Up and Wait

I recently filled out an application toward the college program I want to take – Funeral Service – as well as FAFSA. However, it doesn’t seem like I’ll really qualify for any financial aid because of how much Ryan made last year which, mostly, seems to be due to the living allowance he got for being overseas which shouldn’t count in my opinion. Really, it exists to provide an equivalent style of living to those in most expensive areas and overseas where there is a different currency.

I think I really was cutting it close when it came to filling out the application so we’ll see if I get in and, if so, how soon I can enter the program. I was hoping for January so that I could use financial aid for the next semester but, the way things are looking, I’ll have to pay a lot no matter what. Ick.

I’m also planning on flying home next month, for Thanksgiving. It will be awesome to see Mom’s new house, no vehicle and, of course, Samantha!

Monday was a very weird day. It started off not too bad with some episodes of Stargate and then Ryan received a call that one his troops has fucked up so he jumped in the shower and ran to base after being screamed on the phone. Of course, it wasn’t his troop. It was someone else with the same name who is now his troop and Ryan basically wasted a trip. Bah!

We spent the day doing a little shopping, including brand new bras for me, and grabbed dinner at the mall and ended up with a trip to Wal-mart for some necessities. We returned to a hot apartment as our electricity had partially shut off while we were gone and I hopped on the phone with the answering service who told us to check the breaker box, which we did, and flip the switches for the living room (where the electricity had been off) which we couldn’t find. OF course, after I hung up Ryan found the switch and I had to call them back to say never mind.

If only it ended there. I went to turn on my computer to find that it didn’t work and assumed it was the power supply because I’ve had the same problem before. Unfortunately it was too late to call anyone so I waited until yesterday where I made like 4 calls to Best Buy before someone answered and gave me a ridiculous price. We also talked to someone else who quoted a better rate but wouldn’t have been able to do it the same day so we went a little out of our way to a great shop that was sort of hidden away and were greeted by an extremely helpful chap who even gave us some free service. We took the time to browse their shop as well which had a variety of used and new computers and accessories for some damned good prices so Ryan is now considering getting a laptop from there.

Although it all turned out okay, it was a harrowing experience. I was very worried of having additional damage done to the computer so I’m very grateful that it wasn’t. Of course, I am not impressed with our electricity which has already gone out twice since we moved in. Ick.

Curiosity..

As much as I love my kitty, he is still a kitten and very curious. Unfortunately, he likes to get into places which are hard to block off and just as difficult to get him out of – places like the back of the TV, the fireplace and under the dishwasher. I have tried distracting him with toys as well as spraying with water and while he doesn’t like being sprayed, it doesn’t phase him all that much.

Any ideas?

I just put up a review for the I Rub My Wormie, here. Here’s a short snippet.

I Rub My Wormie is a multi-speed vibrator powered by 2 C batteries, which I would have proffered were included as I had to buy them especially for this product. The battery pack originally contains a plastic sheet which needs to be removed and the cap – the end of the tail – fits on tightly when batteries are inserted.

I really felt I was in for a treat.

Unlike a real worm, the Wormie is cute and quite large. Some may find the adorable face on this not-so-little guy a bit disturbing but I definitely found it cute and this unique design makes it more of a discreet sex toy.

Because of endless spam I receive through forms on the site, I am doing away with unnecessary ones. You’ll notice right away the lack of the “Ask Me” form on the blog. I think I hung onto that trend far too long. I’ve always removed the content submission page which was, sadly, covered in dust.

I can already hear the gears grinding more smoothly.

This is Halloween!

Over the past week or so Ryan and I have hit up a multitude of stores including Walmart, Target, Michaels, Yankee Candle and Carlton Cards for Halloween decorations. Thus far, I have been several disappointed about the variety of items. We most bought indoor candle stuff and while it’s all really cool, I haven’t seen a lot of non-candle decor that’s worth a damn. However, we did invest in some fun gel window clings, a little gargoyle we put out front and a decoration for outside our door.

I wonder if this year is just a bad year for Halloween? A few years ago I reveled in the treasures I found at Wal-mart; I don’t even know if I bought anything elsewhere. Unfortunately, those items are stored at my mother’s house and probably will be for some time yet so I don’t have access.

Maybe I am just too picky? Generally, I am looking for decorations which are elegant and gothy – not gorey and cheap. I especially don’t like a lot of animated and noisy stuff. I just find it so tacky. While I enjoy lighted decor, much of it is just so hokey. I just want something dark and beautiful. If I could use something all year that, that would be even better.

Maybe next year will be better? I guess I can’t really complain. Halloween shopping was non-existant in Japan.
